Stoma products and accessories are commonly misused.
The cost implications for the NHS are high in terms of resource to identify the issue and intervention, the physical costs of over-ordering products and the impact of under-ordering (an indication of product misuse that can often lead to expensive hospital care to resolve).
Taking these insights, alongside existing dispensing data from Fittleworth, Pegasus created ProVIS: a free, online ‘real-time’ data visualisation and interpretation tool that makes it straightforward for health providers to identify and act upon patients’ over- and under- dispensing trends.
With the NHS focused on efficiencies, and clinicians under increased time pressures, ProVIS offers a new approach to helping clinicians deliver excellence in patient care while helping the NHS achieve best value in prescribing.
Within four weeks of a multichannel launch, 15% of all stoma care nurses in the UK had registered for ProVIS.
Fittleworth managed to support stoma nurses better (one of its objectives), while stoma nurses and the NHS benefited from better visibility to their patient’s dispensing data.
